Does Madden 21 Transfer to PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X? How to Save Your Data

The new console (XBOX Series X and PlayStation 5) has been officially released. The next-gen version of Madden 21 for these consoles won’t be out until December 4th. Wondering if Madden 21 transfers to PS5 and Xbox Series X? In this guide, we'll explain everything you need to know about Dual Entitlement.

Is Madden 21 Cross-Generation Compatible?

The good news is that yes, Madden 21 is cross-generation compatible, but only when moving from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X.

For example, if you own a digital copy of Madden 21 on PS4, you’ll get a digital copy of the game on PS5. If you have a physical copy of Madden 21 on Xbox One, you’ll have to insert the Xbox One disc into your Xbox Series X for EA’s Dual Entitlement system to work.

Does Madden 21 Save Data Transfer to PS5 & Xbox Series X?

Yes, your Madden 21 save data and progression will transfer over to the two next-gen console. According to EA, your Ultimate Team binder content and Madden Coins will definitely transfer, while progress in ‘certain’ Franchise modes can also be imported from current generation to next generation.

Exactly what the ‘certain’ Franchise modes are remains to be seen, but for the most part you can rest assured all of your progress you make before the PS5 and Xbox Series X release later this year will be carried over onto your new, next-gen console… whenever they release.

Is There a Dual Entitlement End Date for Madden 21?

You’ll be able to transfer your game from PS4/ Xbox One to PS5/ Xbox Series X up until the release of Madden 22 around this time next year. When the new titles release, EA may choose to roll the program onto these new games, or end it entirely as the next-gen systems will have been out for close to a year at that point.

We’ll just have to wait and see on that one.
