Madden 21 Cover Athlete Predictions: Potential Early Candidates Cover Stars

NFL football is over, which means a new season is in full swing: Madden hype season. With that comes many problems. What new features will Madden 21 bring? Will EA eventually solve some long-standing problems in franchising? Check out some player wish lists for Madden 21 here. And most importantly, who will be the Madden 21 cover athlete?

EA's Madden 21 doesn't seem to have been released yet, but that doesn't mean gamers haven't considered the future yet. The NFL 2020 season will feature an interesting storyline as a new rising star is already on the gridiron. We look at 5 athletes we think are most likely to appear on the cover of Madden 21 — and who's next in line to break the curse.

Now football fans all know Patrick Mahomes is the cover character of Madden 20, and Madden's curse seems to be defeated. Mahomes led his Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl and showed why he should represent Madden and the NFL.

Lamar Jackson (QB) — Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson is the safest option for Madden 21 cover athlete. It's no secret that he has made a splash in the past season. Jackson also won the NFL MVP award and is one of the most popular real and virtual games in the game. When you combine it with world-class speed, agility, and appeal to a young crowd, the Madden 21 cover will be a more obvious choice.

Derrick Henry (RB) — Tennessee Titans

Another rising star in the game - Derrick Henry. If Madden 21 cover doesn’t feature Jackson, Derrick Henry seems like the next-best option. He really shone brightly in the postseason, dicing up the vaunted Patriots defense before bulldozing the Ravens.

Michael Thomas (WR) — New Orleans Saints

Thomas was the best wide receiver in the NFL last year, none impressed more than the Saints'Michael Thomas. In addition, Thomas moved into the Madden 99 Club this past season, making him a smart choice to represent Madden 21. If nothing else, the cover photo would be incredibly dynamic. If Madden doesn't pick a QB, a lot of people would be rightfully mad if it doesn't pick Thomas.

Christian McCaffrey (HB) — Carolina Panthers

This past season, he became just the third player in history to record 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same year. In just his second season, McCaffrey was named to the All-Pro and Pro Bowl teams as well.

Aaron Donald (RE) — Los Angeles Rams

The Ram's Aaron Donald is a proven defensive stud in the league and the only player who started and ended the season in the 99 Club. His resume speaks volumes. It also makes him a prime candidate to take over the Madden 21 cover.

Regardless of who appears on the cover, we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief.
